Who Can Be Held Responsible for a Fatal Tinley Park, IL  Motorcycle Crash?

When a motorcyclist dies in a wreck, surviving family members may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver. Illinois law allows a spouse, children, or other next of kin to seek accountability when a loved one is lost in a crash that involves another vehicle.

Families that have to cope with this kind of loss usually face funeral and burial costs, lost income the rider would have provided, and the emotional toll of losing a family member unexpectedly. These losses can continue for years, especially when the rider leaves behind dependents.

Illinois’ statute of limitations sets a two year window to fill a wrongful death claim, which makes it important not to delay in seeking legal guidance. A wrongful death lawyer can help a grieving family understand what compensation may be available, that can include medical bills incurred before death, funeral expenses, and lost future earnings.

To lose a family member in a motorcycle wreck is overwhelming, and questions about legal rights shouldn’t add to that burden. At Ankin Law, our team can speak with you about your options and what steps may be available to your family under Illinois law.
