What Is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a slippery substance created by your body that is commonly found in the eyes, skin, and joints. This acid is beneficial to the body, and taking it in supplement form may help to reduce the symptoms of arthritis pain and improve skin health. It is often used in health and beauty products for its moisturizing and anti-aging properties.
What Is Diclofenac?
Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is sold under the brand names Zipsor, Cambia, Cataflam, Voltaren, Voltaren XR, and Zorvolex. This product is typically used to treat mild-to-moderate pain. It helps to relieve symptoms of arthritis, including inflammation, stiffness, joint pain, and swelling. It can also be used to treat acute migraine attacks in adults, though it does not prevent or lessen the number of migraine attacks. This medication is only available via prescription. It is available in capsules, tablets, and powders.
What Is Omeprazole?
Sold as Prilosec and Prilosec OTC, omeprazole is a drug that is used to treat gastrointestinal issues that involve too much acid in the stomach, gastric and duodenal ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. This drug is also used for Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and dyspepsia.
Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, and it works by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach. It is available as both over the counter and prescription medications.
What Are the Dangers of Taking Supplements That Contain Undisclosed Drugs?
Consuming anything with undeclared ingredients in general is dangerous, but it is even more dangerous to take a supplement that contains undisclosed drugs. Taking supplements that contain undisclosed drugs poses significant health risks, which can include:
- Adverse Reactions and Side Effects
Undeclared drugs may interact negatively with other medications or pre-existing health conditions. This can lead to unexpected side effects, such as allergic reactions, organ damage, or cardiovascular issues.
- Overdose Risk
Without proper labeling, consumers may unknowingly ingest harmful amounts of the hidden drug, leading to potentially life-threatening overdoses.
- Masking of Underlying Conditions
These drugs can sometimes temporarily alleviate symptoms, preventing proper diagnosis or treatment of the root cause of a medical issue.
- Legal and Ethical Concerns
Consuming such supplements might inadvertently expose users to banned substances that could have legal consequences, particularly for athletes or professionals undergoing drug testing.
For safety, only purchase supplements verified by third-party testing and check for updates from regulatory agencies like the FDA regarding recalls or safety warnings.
What Should I Do if I Have a Recalled Product?
If you have a product affected by the UMARY supplement recall, you should follow the instructions given to you by MXBBB for returning your product. Do not continue taking this product, and don’t give it to other people. If you are unable to return the supplements to the manufacturer, look up the proper medication disposal instructions for your area. Some places have designated medication disposal locations you can use to get rid of unused drugs for free. There may also be specific procedures you must follow when disposing of medications in your area to ensure your safety and the well-being of others.
How Does the FDA Protect Consumers?
The Food Drug Administration (FDA) protects consumers by doing regular testing on products and identifying contaminates that may prove unsafe to anyone who uses the product. The FDA also issues and announces recalls and provides consumers with the information surrounding the affected products.
How to Stay Safe in a World Full of Product Recalls
Checking product recall history and reviews can help keep individuals safe from dangerous products. The FDA’s website is a good place to go for product recall information. Additionally, you can review the ingredients listed on the back of the product label to protect yourself and your loved ones.
In the end, you can do everything in your power to maintain safety and still become injured by an unreasonably dangerous product, especially when there are undeclared ingredients involved. Fortunately, manufacturers and distributors can be held liable for injuries caused by negligent labeling, contamination, and other product defects.
