The Voice You Hear At Chicago Sports Events: Meet Tim Sinclair

The soundtrack of a professional sporting event in the “Windy City” is a symphony containing many different instruments.

One element is the sounds from the competition field or court, with those action eliciting cheers, boos, or other reactions from the gallery. Sometimes music is pumped in to set a particular mood for the moment.

But the one conducting this “symphony” is the person who holds the biggest mic in the building, the one that keeps the narrative of this event flowing.

That’s the public address announcer, and there’s a familiar voice that we at Ankin Law believe is one of the “Chicagoans You Should Know.”

That’s Tim Sinclair, who is on the PA for Bears games at Soldier Field, Bulls games at the United Center, University of Illinois basketball games. At the same time, he’s been able to get behind the mic for some major events throughout the country.

What began as a venture into radio in Champaign has turned into a career that’s made Sinclair a familiar voice in Chicago sporting venues. He appeared in a State Farm commercial and has even lent his voice to NBA video games.

Tim took some time to speak to Ankin Law for the “Chicagoans You Should Know” series. You can see that story in the video above.
