Milford, IL (August 2, 2024) – Illinois State Police responded to the site of a multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday evening, July 31, and said that a Vermilion County woman was dead after a semi-tractor truck crash in rural Milford.
Just before 5:00 p.m., Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police responded to the semi-truck accident at the intersection of County Road 2000 East and 1000 North. The first vehicle, a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, was traveling southbound on County Road 2000 East when it was involved in a crash with a 2014 Peterbilt semi-tractor traveling westbound.
The driver of the semi-tractor, a 32-year-old man, was treated for minor injuries and was released on-scene. The driver of the Chrysler, a 64-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. In the meantime, the collision is still being investigated.
We offer our sincerest condolences to the deceased woman’s loved ones. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family members at this time.
Truck Accidents in Chicago
Trucking companies and their insurers exist to provide support to their respective industries and are not looking out for victims’ best interests following a crash. They are responsible for persuading plaintiffs to settle for the bare minimum or, in certain instances, for nothing. Victims of truck accidents should have an advocate, and a Chicago-area truck accident attorney knows what it takes to fight these claims. Moreover, the driver is not always liable when a truck crash occurs; their employer, the maintenance fleet, or even the truck manufacturer may also be to blame. Fault can be difficult to determine in these incidents, so consulting with an attorney is essential.
Determining the cause is the initial stage in identifying potential faults involving multiple parties. Unfortunately, truck collision victims often sustain catastrophic, life-altering injuries and do not have the time to deal with a personal injury case on their own. When extended periods of recovery are factored in, truck accident victims typically face serious financial adversity following such an incident. By retaining the services of a Chicago truck accident attorney to hold any negligent party accountable, you can recover the damages you’ve suffered as a result of an 18-wheeler crash and avoid further hardship.
