The accident remains under active investigation by officials.

We wish the guard a full and speedy recovery.

What Should Drivers Do After a Hit-and-Run Collision in Chicago, IL?

If you are involved in a crash in Chicago where the other driver flees, stay at the scene and call for help immediately. Document everything you can, this includes evidence of the direction the vehicle traveled, its color, make, and any partial plate numbers you observed. In Illinois, leaving the scene of a crash involving injury is a criminal offense that can carry serious legal consequences for the fleeing driver.

Hit-and-run crashes are a recurring problem along high-traffic downtown corridors in Chicago. State Street, Michigan Avenue, and the stretch of Ida B. Wells Drive through the Loop all carry significant overnight traffic, particularly from rideshare vehicles, commercial trucks, and transit units during early morning hours. People hurt in these crashes often face whiplash, soft tissue injuries, or trauma that does not fully present until hours after the wreck.

A Chicago car accident attorney  can be able to help identify options available to someone hurt by a driver who fled. This can include exploring whether uninsured motorist coverage applies or what documentation may support a future claim. Legal guidance can help clarify what steps make sense given the specific details of your situation.
