Chicago, IL (September 18th, 2024) – Additional illnesses have been linked to Diamond Shruumz products despite FDA warnings. In June 2024, California based company Prophet Premium Blends recalled their full line of Diamond Shruumz products after they were linked to severe illnesses, hospitalizations, and possibly two deaths. The recall includes infused cones, chocolate bars and gummies. The products were discovered to contain mucimol and many other dangerous chemicals, such as Acetylpsilocin, Psilocin, Pregabalin, Desmethoxyyangonin, Dihydrokavain, and Kavain.
Many users have reported adverse reactions to these products, including seizures, loss of consciousness, confusion, agitation, abnormal heart rate, hypertension (high blood pressure), hypotension (low blood pressure), nausea, and vomiting. As of September 18th, 2024, there have been 169 reported illnesses, 66 hospitalizations, and 2 possible deaths. The products have been distributed nationwide.
What Are the Chemicals Found in These Products?
Testing by the FDA found that several chemicals were present in Diamond Shruumz products. These products range from psychoactive compounds to a prescription drug used to treat nerve pain.
Mucimol
Mucimol (also known as agarin or pantherine) is a chemical found in certain species of mushrooms, such as the genus Amanita. Mucimol is derived from the ibotenic acid of these mushrooms, and is known for its psychoactive properties. It displays sedative-hypnotic, depressant, and hallucinogenic psychoactivity.
Acetylpsilocin
Acetylpsilocin, (also known as Psilacetin and 4-acetoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamin) is a semisynthetic serotonergic psychedelic drug. An American pharmacologist and medicinal chemist named David Nichols suggested the drug to be an alternative for clinical studies to a psychedelic drug produced by fungi. It is banned in Australia and considered “unscheduled” in the United States.
Psilocin
Psilocin is a hallucinogenic compound found in various psilocybin mushrooms found across a number of genera, often referred to as “magic mushrooms.” This chemical produces a similar effect to LSD and mescaline. It has been theorized this chemical can be used to treat anxiety or improve the quality of life of terminally ill patients, though it is not used in modern medicine today.
Pregabalin
Pregabalin is a prescription drug used to treat nerve pain, such as is found in patients with diabetes or individuals suffering from postherpetic neuralgia (lasting pain from shingles). This drug is also used to treat pain from spinal cord injuries, as well as fibromyalgia. This drug can also be used to treat certain types of seizures in adults and children.
Desmethoxyyangonin, Dihydrokavain, and Kavain
Desmethoxyyangonin, Dihydrokavain, and Kavain are all kavalactones found in the kava plant. Kava is able to increase dopamine levels. Kava also has attention promoting effects. The moderate consumption of Kava in its traditional form has been shown to present an “acceptably low health risk.” Kava is used to produce a drink with anesthetic, euphoriant, and sedative properties.

The recall pertains to all Diamond Shruumz products, and they should not be available for sale. If you encounter any party that is still selling these products, contact the FDA.
