June 9th, 2025 (Chicago, IL) – Church & Dwight Co., Inc. is issuing a voluntary nationwide recall of three of their product lines. The lots in question, Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs, Zicam Nasal AllClear Swabs, and Orajel Baby Teething Swabs, have been found to have a microbial fungal contamination in the cotton swabs of these products that could cause life-threatening blood infections. The type of fungus these products are contaminated with has not been released at this time. The affected products were sold throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

What Products Are Affected By The Zicam and Orajel Recall?
Church & Dwight Co., Inc., are recalling all lots of these products that are still within the expiry date. Products affected by the recall can be identified by the following:
- Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs: UPC 732216301205. An orange and white box with a blue horizontal stripe. The words “Zicam Cold Remedy” Are printed in blue on the white part of the box.
- Zicam Nasal AllClear Swabs: UPC 732216301656. An orange and white box with “Zicam Nasal AllClear” and “Clear. Protect. Soothe.” printed on it in blue.
- Orajel Baby Teething Swabs: UPC 310310400002. A white box with a pale blue, slightly cloudy sky printed on it and a Sun with a smiling face. “Benzocaine Free Formula & Applicator in One” “Orajel Baby” “Cooling Swabs FOR TEETHING” and “Drug Free Single Use Swabs” are printed on the box in shades of blue. “DAYTIME” is printed in white on an orange horizontal stripe.
Only Zicam and Orajel swab-based products are affected by the recall. Other products, such as melting tablets, are not affected.
What Should Consumers Do If They Have the Recalled Products?
Consumers are asked to stop using affected products immediately and contact Church & Dwight Co., Inc. for a full refund. You can contact them through their website or call their Consumer Relations Hotline at (800) 981-4710. (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm ET).
Any adverse reactions experienced with the use of this product may be reported to the FDA’s medwatch adverse event reporting program.
