Wonder Lake, IL (December 30, 2024) – Area authorities said that a man died in a two-car crash on Friday afternoon in northwest suburban Wonder Lake.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on Barnard Mill Road northwest of Summitt Drive, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
A Mazda 6 was traveling southeast on Barnard Mill Road when it crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Chevrolet Silverado head-on. One of the drivers, a 49-year-old man from Wonder Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene. The McHenry County Coroner’s Office has not yet released his name.
The other motorist, a 65-year-old man from Naples, Florida, was taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital where he was listed in stable condition, officials confirmed. Meanwhile, no more information is currently available in the interim, though McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
