Whiteside Co., IL (January 17, 2026) – A two-car crash on Thursday night, January 15, killed one person and left two others injured on Illinois Route 84 near Spring Valley Road.

Deputies said the collision happened around 9:21 p.m. when two vehicles crashed along the highway. Emergency crews arrived to find three people trapped inside the wreckage with severe injuries. Responders freed all three victims and took them to a hospital in Clinton, Iowa.
Authorities later confirmed that one driver died from their injuries. The other two victims sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Crews closed Illinois Route 84 for about five hours as investigators gathered evidence and cleared the roadway. The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
