What a Lawyer Says You Should Do in Your First Year of Law School

There are thousands of students entering classes this January to begin their work toward becoming an attorney.

It’s the start of a three-year journey where they will learn to start thinking like a lawyer, with numerous challenges along the way.

Sometimes this can be a little overwhelming for someone just getting into the legal field, but luckily, we have attorneys at Ankin Law who are willing to pass along some knowledge.

One of the people who is willing to do so is Attorney Jennifer Kelly, who is a graduate of DePaul University School of Law. She’s worked on both the Plaintiff’s and Defendant’s side and has nearly two-decades of experience in the law.

In 2025, Jennifer took part in two events with fellow Attorney Jake Nabat, speaking with students at her Alma Mater of DePaul along with University of Illinois-Chicago Law School.

You can see Jenny’s advice to first year law students in the video.
