Virginia, IL (July 24, 2024) – A 72-year-old woman from Western Illinois was killed on Monday in a crash near the Cass County town of Virginia.
The crash happened just before 12:30 p.m. on Illinois Route 125, just west of Shiloh Road. Officials with the Illinois State Police said a pickup truck was driving west on Illinois Route 125 when it crossed the center line and continued driving in the eastbound lane. The truck hit an eastbound sedan head-on.
The woman, the sedan’s driver, was pronounced dead on the scene. The passenger of the sedan and everyone in the truck were taken from the scene to the hospital with injuries, but they were all expected to be okay. State Police added that the driver of the truck was given a ticket for improper lane usage. The crash remains under investigation, though police did not immediately provide further information.
