Urbana, IL (June 30, 2024) – A fatal crash was reported in Urbana on Saturday morning, June 29th. The accident happened just before 2:00 a.m. on North Cunningham Avenue near the intersection with Triumph Drive.
Police say that 25-year-old Justin Martinez, of Byron, was traveling northbound on Cunningham when he was hit head-on by a wrong-way driver. Martinez sustained critical injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. There is no information on what caused the crash to occur. Police did not release any details on the identity of the other driver nor did they say if any other injuries were reported. The accident remains under investigation.
