Grand Ridge, IL (May 22, 2026) – Two people were taken to hospitals, one by helicopter and one by ambulance, after a two-vehicle crash on Route 23 near North 2250th Road just north of Grand Ridge. The collision was reported at approximately 2:15 p.m. Thursday, May 21.

One person was flown by Life Flight to OSF HealthCare in Peoria. The other was transported by ambulance to OSF HealthCare in Ottawa. One vehicle came to rest on the highway while the second ended up in a nearby yard.
Emergency units responded and Route 23 was shut down as responders set up a landing zone for the helicopter.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
