Three Things to Know if You Want to Be a Lawyer – From Howard

As September begins, a number of students are entering school with the hopes of becoming an attorney.

Some are doing so as an undergraduate in college or continuing their education in law school, but there is something they need to know.

Being a lawyer starts now, according to Attorney Howard Ankin.

That’s what the founder of Ankin Law said when he was asked earlier this month about a few tips he would give students who were looking to get into the legal field or just starting out.

Here are the three pieces of advice that he had:

  1. Your reputation starts today, so work hard immediately to build it.
  2. If you want to be at the top of your field, you’ll have to put in the hours to make it happen
  3. Live up to your oath to help people.

Howard has been doing that with our firm since 1997 while building our Personal Injury practice. During that time, we’ve helped to provide leadership to young legal professionals and lawyers as they beginning their careers in the field.
