Tazewell County, IL (May 31, 2024) – Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley has released more information on Friday morning’s deadly crash.
According to Hanley, the woman who died was a 32-year-old Normal resident who was pronounced dead at 9:25 a.m. She was in an SUV involved in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 74 near the Pinecrest Drive exit early Friday morning, per the East Peoria Police Department. The department said in a news release that the SUV was headed west on the interstate when it was involved in a crash with a semi-truck.
The driver died at the site of the incident, stated the East Peoria police, who are reviewing the details surrounding the accident with the Illinois State Police. It’s unclear if anyone else was seriously hurt in the incident, though EMTs were also spotted at the scene. In the meantime, the collision is still being investigated, and no charges or citations have been filed. Witnesses were asked to contact local authorities in the interim.
