Tazewell County, IL (September 20, 2024) – A Pekin woman is dead after a crash involving a semi-truck on Thursday, September 19, according to local authorities.
The woman’s name is being withheld pending notification of her family, but Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley said the 62-year-old woman was pronounced dead around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Illinois Route 29 and Thompson Street in rural Pekin.
First responders were called around 9:50 a.m. to the crash, though there is no further information available at this time. It’s unclear if anybody else was hurt in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police, Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, and the coroner’s office, and police asked witnesses in the area to step forward.
