Pekin, IL (July 2, 2026) – A motorcyclist died on early Wednesday morning, July 1, after a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV on Illinois Route 9 near Pekin.

Illinois State police were called to the intersection of Illinois Route 9 and 5th Street, south of Pekin, at 5:08 a.m., after reports of a two-vehicle wreck with serious injuries. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tazewell County Coroner Charlie Hanley confirmed the death and said an autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.
