Skateboard Accidents in Illinois
Accidents involving skateboarders are often devastating because these individuals have no protection when struck by a vehicle. Throughout Illinois, collisions like this recent one reported highlight the dangers faced by people traveling outside of a vehicle.
The Illinois Department of Transportation reports that hundreds of pedestrians and skateboarders are injured or killed each year in traffic crashes. These incidents are especially serious because even at lower speeds, the force of impact can cause catastrophic injuries or death. Families affected by these tragedies often face not only grief but also financial strain from medical costs, funeral expenses, and lost income.
Victims’ families may have legal options under Illinois wrongful death laws. A wrongful death claim can help surviving relatives recover compensation for:
- Medical costs incurred before death
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Loss of companionship and emotional support
- Lost wages or financial contributions from the deceased
Having the support of an experienced wrongful death attorney can make a significant difference. Lawyers understand how to investigate crashes, work with accident reconstruction specialists, and hold responsible parties accountable. They also help families navigate the insurance system, which can be overwhelming during an already painful time.
If you or someone you love has been impacted by a fatal pedestrian accident in Illinois, taking legal action may help bring a sense of justice and provide financial support.
