Peoria, IL – Two Hospitalized After University St Crash

Peoria, IL (May 1, 2024) – Following a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday, the Peoria Fire Department reported that two patients were transported to the hospital.

When personnel arrived at the site of the crash, they discovered that one person was stuck in one of the cars, according to Battalion Chief Rick Waldron. At approximately 8:00 a.m., at least two vehicles had collided at the junction of War Memorial Drive and University Street.

Additionally, firefighters and paramedics from Advanced Medical Transport assisted a patient in another car west of the junction on War Memorial. To free the entrapped individual, firefighters used the “jaws of life,” spreaders, and cutters to remove the driver-side door. Two passengers were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. Meanwhile, the PPD is investigating the collision, but no further details are available.
