Oswego, IL (July 31, 2025) – A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, July 30, when a car crashed into the Portillo’s restaurant on Route 34, killing a two-year-old boy and injuring 13 others.

The incident took place just before 2 p.m. when a gold-colored sedan, driven by a 50-year-old woman, plowed through the front entrance of the restaurant, shattering glass and causing significant damage to tables and chairs. The crash left several victims with injuries, including eight people who were rushed to local hospitals, while six others received treatment on the scene.
Among the injured, the ages ranged from 2 to 50 years old, with some sustaining serious injuries. The authorities, including the Oswego Police Department, responded quickly, providing life-saving measures such as CPR.
