Mendota, IL (November 2, 2024) – At least two people were taken to hospitals after being involved in a crash just outside of Lostant, close to Mendota, on Wednesday, October 30.
First responders were called to a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon at about 3:15 p.m. involving a car and a semi-truck. Lostant firefighters requested mutual aid from Tonica to the scene on Route 251 and North 15th Road. A Life Flight helicopter was initially requested but called off once crews arrived on the scene of the wreck.
One person involved was taken by ambulance to OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru, while another was taken by ambulance to OSF in Streator. Although no more information is currently available in the interim, the incident is being investigated by the Illinois State Police’s accident unit. Troopers also asked any witnesses with additional information to come forward.
