Just before the end of the calendar year, we wanted to ensure that we had the opportunity to honor another outstanding Chicagoland educator in 2025.

Once again, we visited Oak Lawn to find a person who is using their own personal style to connect with their students.
For the second time in two years, we honored an educator at Oak Lawn Community High School with the Ankin Law and WGN “Teacher of the Month.” This time it’s Mr. Eric Kallenborn, an Art and English teacher who has been at the school for the last seven years.
He’s integrated several modalities into his teaching strategy to better relate to students in various classes he teaches, like photography. Eric’s passion for anime, science fiction films, and Japanese comics has come in handy during his 21 years of teaching.
Ankin Law is no stranger to giving a “Teacher of the Month” award at Oak Lawn Community High School, having honored Mrs. Shatha Odeh in November 2023.
You can see the presentation along with a profile of Mr. Kallenborn by WGN’s Lauren Jiggetts in the video.
