For the second time in 2026, Ankin Law has joined WGN in saluting an outstanding educator in Chicagoland.

This time, the focus turned to the far south side of Chicago to find someone making a big impact on students in need.
Mrs. Mary Erdmann of Brother Rice High School has been named the “Teacher of the Month” for February 2026.
She works as a special education teacher at the Catholic school on the south side and has created the “Mount Sion” inclusion program. In this initiative, peer mentors from the school work provide guidance and encouragement to participants in the program.
Erdmann was nominated for the honor by one those peer mentors, Brother Rice senior Nolan Leonard.
Attorney Phil Risley had the honor of presenting the “Teacher of the Month Award” on February 17 at the school.
Erdmann is the sixth winner of the honor from WGN and Ankin Law in the 2025-2026 school year.
You can see more on Mrs. Erdmann from WGN’s Lauren Jiggetts in the video.
