What Are The Most Common Injuries In A Car Crash?
Common injuries in a car crash include whiplash, back injuries, head trauma, and broken bones. These injuries can range from mild soreness to more serious conditions that require ongoing treatment. In places like Illinois, crashes on busy highways often involve sudden stops and multiple impacts, which can increase the chance of these types of injuries.
Neck and back strain are among the most reported issues after a collision. People may also experience concussions or other head injuries, even without a direct hit. Some symptoms, such as stiffness or dizziness, may not appear right away, which is why medical evaluation soon after a crash can be important.
Under Illinois law, drivers involved in injury accidents must report the crash and may need to work through insurance claims to cover medical costs and damages. The state follows a modified comparative fault rule, which means a person can seek compensation if they are less than 50% responsible for the accident. Keeping medical records, bills, and other documents organized can help explain how injuries relate to the crash.
After an injury crash, a car accident lawyer can review your situation and explain how Illinois laws may apply. They can help organize paperwork and clarify how insurance communication and claims may work after a collision.
