Joliet, IL (June 10, 2024) – According to troopers with the Illinois State Police (ISP), an investigation was underway on Saturday afternoon after a fatal hit-and-run crash. According to police, the crash occurred just after 4:00 p.m. at West Washington Street and West Jefferson Street. When they arrived on the scene, officers found the victim lying on the ground at the intersection.
A witness later told police that the man had been hit by a semi-truck with an attached trailer that was passing through the area as he attempted to cross the street. Per officers, the semi was traveling southbound at the time of the crash and continued driving after hitting the victim. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
