Joliet, IL – Man Hit & Injured in Pedestrian Collision on W Jefferson St

Joliet, IL (November 4, 2024) – According to troopers with the Illinois State Police and officers with the Joliet Police Department, West Jefferson Street at Hammes Avenue was shut down because of a major crash on Sunday evening, November 3.

Officials said the crash happened around 6:15 p.m. after a 37-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on West Jefferson Street. However, no other details were released, and an investigation remains ongoing at this time.

A Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 35-year-old Joliet man was westbound on West Jefferson Street from Hammes Avenue in the curb lane. It is believed a male pedestrian, 37, of Joliet, was crossing the street in the 2100 block of West Jefferson Street from the south and was struck by the Chevrolet.

The driver of the Chevrolet stopped and tried to render aid to the pedestrian. The pedestrian was taken to St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured. That said, no further details were released, and an investigation remains ongoing.
