Joliet, IL (June 25, 2024) – According to officers with the Joliet Police Department, a crash involving a cyclist closed a road in the south suburbs on Monday, according to police.

The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. on West Jefferson Street, west of Houbolt Road, Joliet police said. A woman, 57, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on Jefferson Street when she struck a 20-year-old man who was riding a bike. The man was thrown from the bicycle and taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said. However, additional details were not readily available, and police are still investigating the accident.
