Truck Accidents in Illinois
Collisions involving large trucks often lead to serious injuries, especially when smaller vehicles like SUVs are involved. In Jacksonville and across Illinois, commercial vehicle accidents remain a major concern for drivers who travel busy routes such as Interstate 72.
The size and weight of a semi-trailer truck make any crash potentially devastating. Even when a driver survives, the recovery process can take weeks or months, depending on the severity of the injuries.
Truck accidents can occur for many reasons. A truck may slow for traffic, make sudden lane changes, or fail to stop in time. In work zones, these risks increase because vehicles must adjust quickly to new traffic patterns. Drivers in passenger vehicles face a much higher risk of harm in these situations. Medical treatment, lost income, and long-term health effects often follow such crashes.
Victims of truck accidents may be entitled to compensation. This can include coverage for:
- Hospital bills – Victims often face immediate costs for emergency care, surgeries, and ongoing medical treatment after a serious crash.
- Rehabilitation – Recovery may require physical therapy, occupational therapy, or specialized care to restore strength and mobility.
- Pain and suffering – Compensation can address the lasting physical discomfort and emotional distress caused by the accident.
- Property damage – Compensation may cover repairs or replacement if the victim’s vehicle was damaged in the crash.
- Emotional distress – Victims may be able to recover damages for the psychological impact of the accident, such as anxiety or trauma.
If the injured person cannot return to work, damages may also help replace lost wages. An experienced truck accident lawyer can review the details of a case and explain the legal options available.
