How a Chicago Legal Assistant Honors Her Mother at Ankin Law

For one legal assistant at a major law firm in Chicago, the best motivation comes from the person closest to her.

That’s because Ankin Law’s Lupita Sanchez always knows that she makes her mother proud when working to help our personal injury clients.

A year before starting in the legal industry, she was helping her mom find lawyers after she was injured at work. It was a difficult process since the employer was giving Lupita’s mother problems, so she jumped at the chance to work at a law firm.

“Companies tend to look out for themselves, not their employees as much. It was just very frustrating to see my mom legitimately hurt and the company not caring,” said Sanchez, who started as a receptionist in 2023.

By the next year, she was working with clients as a legal assistant, helping hundreds who have dealt with injuries from slip and falls to auto accidents. It’s easy to guess who has been on Lupita’s mind the entire time.

“I don’t think I could ever repay my mother, but I can give a little back to, like she said, provide other people who maybe had a bad experience or got injured at no fault of their own to get over it and come out of their better,” said Sanchez.
