Herrin, IL (June 9, 2025) – Illinois State Police said that a traffic accident backed up traffic on westbound Illinois Highway 13 on Monday morning, June 9. At approximately 8:20 a.m. on that day, the City of Herrin Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Illinois 13 and 148. The accident involved three vehicles, two with major damage.

One patient was extricated from one vehicle by Herrin Fire Department and Williamson County Fire Protection District personnel by removing the passenger side doors. The person was then transported to a local hospital by United Medical Response. That said, the cause of the collision has not yet been announced, but an inquiry into the crash is underway. No further details were released in the interim.
