Hannibal, IL (April 11, 2025) – Authorities have released the names of the two individuals who lost their lives in a house fire earlier this week in Hannibal.

The fire occurred Tuesday night, April 8, around 9:33 p.m., at a residence located on County Road 409. Multiple fire departments responded to the emergency after reports of a structure engulfed in flames.
Wendy Megan Walker, 54, and her 23-year-old son, Isaiah “Zay Zay” Byron Brown, both residents of Hannibal, were identified as the victims who died in the fire, according to the James O’Donnell Funeral Home. Both were found deceased inside the home.
Walker’s companion, Jay Hester, survived the fire but was unable to save her. He reportedly attempted to re-enter the burning home but was overcome by smoke and was forced to retreat. He received medical treatment at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Investigators have not yet released a cause of the fire, and an investigation remains ongoing.
