Des Plaines, IL (May 8, 2024) – Des Plaines Police Department officers are investigating a deadly pedestrian accident that involved a victim being struck and killed by a Metra train on Monday night in the northern suburbs.
The collision occurred during the evening rush hour close to the Des Plaines station. The 56-year-old man was taken to the hospital by paramedics and later declared deceased. Following the collision, trains on the UP-Northwest line experienced delays in both directions. However, additional details were not readily available, and police are still conducting their inquiry into the cause of the accident at this time. Witnesses were asked to contact the Des Plaines PD if they had more information.
