DeKalb County, IL (October 12, 2024) – Two cars collided, injuring five total occupants, at the intersection of Route 23 and Perry Road after a grey Toyota Prius allegedly ran a stop sign. On Friday, around 4:00 p.m., officers say that the Prius ignored a stop sign and crashed into a green F-800 truck on Route 23. The truck was pushed into a ditch and stopped in a field close to the intersection.

Five people were ultimately taken to Northwestern Kishwaukee Hospital, and a three-year-old was airlifted to Loyola Children’s Hospital with severe injuries. The Prius driver was cited; however, officers are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and have asked any witnesses to come forward.
