Chicago, IL (August 6, 2024) – According to officers with the Chicago Police Department, a woman was hit and killed by a semi-trailer truck after crossing the street on the Near West Side on Tuesday evening, August 6.
Police said that at 8:15 p.m., the truck was headed north on Ashland Avenue at Roosevelt Road when the woman was crossing at the intersection. She was hit by the truck, police said, and the woman was reportedly trapped under the vehicle. The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where she later died.
No other injuries were reported, police said. The Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating in the interim. Officers stated that more details on the incident will be shared with the public once they become available.
