Pedestrian Accidents in Chicago
Pedestrian accidents, unfortunately, continue to be a concern in major cities like Chicago. These types of accidents often result in severe injuries or even fatalities. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), pedestrian fatalities have steadily increased over the years, particularly in urban areas with higher traffic volumes.
Some common causes of pedestrian accidents include:
- Speeding vehicles: Drivers exceeding speed limits can be especially dangerous in areas with pedestrians.
- Distracted driving: Drivers texting or using their phones while driving may fail to notice pedestrians crossing the street.
- Poor visibility: Pedestrian accidents are more common at night, particularly in poorly lit areas or crosswalks.
Pedestrians are vulnerable, and even a relatively low-speed collision can lead to devastating injuries. Those injured in pedestrian accidents often face long recovery times and significant medical expenses. If a loved one has suffered from a pedestrian accident, it’s important to seek legal counsel from a wrongful death attorney.
An experienced attorney can help victims and their families seek justice and compensation for their injuries. Compensation may include medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and, in the case of a fatal accident, wrongful death claims. Legal experts will guide victims through the complexities of the claims process and work to secure the compensation they deserve.
