Chicago, IL (May 26, 2024) – A 44-year-old woman died in a vehicle crash in Woodlawn that happened shortly after a separate accident late on Saturday night. Three other people were taken to the hospital, one of whom was critically injured, according to Chicago police.
The deadly collision, per officers, occurred on Saturday night around 10:30 p.m. on the South Side of Chicago, in the 6400 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue. The female driver of a Volkswagen car and the male driver of an SUV were both traveling to the Third District Police Station to file a complaint after an accident took place when a second collision involving both motorists and a third car, a Chevy SUV.
The 44-year-old woman who was operating that SUV was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was subsequently declared deceased. Authorities stated that her passenger, a 43-year-old woman, was also taken to a nearby hospital and is listed in critical condition, along with two other victims. In the interim, the CPD is still investigating the collision, but no further details are available as the inquiry proceeds.
