Chicago, IL (June 13, 2024) – One person was injured in a crash that took place on the Stevenson Expressway on the Near South Side late on Thursday evening, troopers with the Illinois State Police reported.

The incident happened in the inbound lanes of Interstate 55 near State Street at about 9:45 p.m., police said. According to troopers, police shut down parts of I-55 as they investigated the crash, with traffic being diverted off at the Chinatown feeder ramp. The inbound Dan Ryan Expressway ramp to the inbound Stevenson was closed to traffic as well. EMTs transported a victim to a local medical center, though the total number of victims hurt remains unknown. Although no more information is currently available in the interim, the incident is being investigated by the ISP’s accident unit. Troopers also asked any witnesses with additional information to come forward.
