Car Accidents in Chicago
Car accidents in Chicago can happen at any time, especially in busy neighborhoods, where intersections are often crowded and visibility can be limited. When a crash involves police vehicles, tow-trucks, or other large vehicles, the results can be severe because of the weight and force involved.
Even when injuries are not life-threatening, victims can still face medical bills, time away from work, and lasting pain. This is why understanding your rights after an accident is so important. Anyone injured in a crash caused by another driver’s negligence has the right to seek compensation for their losses.
Some of the most common causes of car accidents in Chicago include:
- Distracted driving, such as texting or using a phone while behind the wheel
- Running red lights or stop signs at busy intersections
- Speeding and reckless driving on city streets
- Failing to yield the right-of-way
- Fatigued or impaired driving
If you are involved in a crash, the most important steps are to get medical care, report the accident to the police, and document the scene. Taking photos, getting witness contact information, and keeping medical records can all strengthen your case if you decide to pursue a claim.
Victims of car crashes may be entitled to several forms of compensation, including medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and property damage. In cases involving serious or long-term injuries, future medical care and rehabilitation costs can also be recovered through a legal claim.
