The Illinois State Police said a marked squad car was parked in the left lane of Interstate 55 near Joliet Road, providing traffic control for a previous crash. A vehicle driven by a Chicago man was traveling northbound on Interstate 55 and allegedly failed to yield, striking the rear passenger side of the squad car.

An ISP spokesperson confirmed that one trooper, along with another victim, was transported to a nearby hospital for observation, though it’s unclear how many others were hurt. No further details were released as an investigation is ongoing, however.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.
