Chicago, IL (December 31, 2024) – A car crash sent a vehicle into a Harold’s Chicken fast food restaurant on Chicago’s South Side on Monday afternoon.

The crash happened near 91st and Ashland in the city’s Brainerd neighborhood at about 3:20 p.m., according to Chicago Police Department officers. Police said a car was driving west on 92nd Street and failed to come to a complete stop, hitting another car driving north on Ashland. The crash sent that second car into the Harold’s Chicken, causing major structural damage in the front.
The 19-year-old woman driving the westbound car was not injured and taken into custody, police confirmed. The 58-year-old driver of the second car suffered minor injuries and was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in fair condition. His passenger, a 62-year-old woman, was not seriously hurt and refused medical attention at the scene. Inside the restaurant, a woman stated that her 33-year-old son was injured in the crash as well.
According to area authorities, police are still investigating the cause of the accident. Witnesses were asked to contact the Chicago Police Department if they had more information.
