Chicago, IL (August 31, 2024) – A police squad car was struck by a vehicle on the Bishop Ford Expressway early Saturday morning, resulting in the injury of an Illinois State trooper.
According to a statement from the Illinois State Police, the trooper was investigating an accident on southbound Interstate 94 at 111th Street at approximately 2:20 a.m. when an Audi collided with the rear of his patrol car. According to officials, the trooper was in his patrol vehicle and had his emergency lights activated at the time of the collision.
The trooper was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the authorities. The statement also stated that the driver of the Audi, a 47-year-old man from Dolton, and his passenger were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further details were released as an investigation is ongoing, however.
