The car was apparently hit by a CSX freight train on the tracks at the Park Avenue crossing near 153rd Street and Park Avenue. Investigators were seen taking pictures of the silver vehicle that collided with the train. The impact was allegedly so severe that it was difficult to determine the make or model of the car.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed three people were killed in the incident. No one on the train was seriously hurt. That said, no further information has been provided at this time. It’s unclear if citations are pending, but an inquiry into the cause of the accident remains ongoing.

We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased victims’ family members at this time. Our thoughts are with any injured victims and their loved ones as well.
