Chicago, IL – Man Identified in Deadly Pedestrian Crash on I-290

Chicago, IL (February 23, 2025) – According to officers with the Chicago Police Department, a man was struck and killed after a crash on the Eisenhower Expressway (Interstate 290) on Thursday night, February 20.

The man was struck and killed on I-290 just after 7:00 p.m. after a multi-vehicle crash near 25th Avenue in Broadview, Illinois State Police said. After several vehicles crashed while in the eastbound lanes of traffic, a pedestrian from one of the vehicle crossed over the center median and was fatally struck while in the westbound lanes, a new release from ISP confirmed. The victim was later identified as Kurt Rabanal.

Both east and westbound lanes of I-290 between 25th Street and Mannheim Road were closed for the investigation. The incident is still under inquiry, however. Witnesses were asked to contact the Chicago PD in the meantime.
