Chicago, IL (November 7, 2024) – According to troopers with the Illinois State Police (ISP) and local officers, a man is dead after he was struck by a car on November 6 on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
ISP troopers said the crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. in the local lanes southbound at 44th Street. The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene; the driver did stop after the crash and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Outbound lanes were closed for hours, and traffic was diverted off at 35th Street. All lanes reopened just before 4:00 a.m. However, the Illinois State Police added that the Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting the sheriff’s office with this ongoing investigation.
