Chicago, IL – Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident on N Harlem Ave

Chicago, IL (August 18, 2024) – According to troopers with the Illinois State Police (ISP) and officers with the Chicago Police Department, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on the city’s Northwest Side late Saturday night.

Per officers, the collision occurred in the 3300 block of North Harlem Avenue in the Belmont Heights neighborhood at approximately 11:50 p.m. A 33-year-old man was walking across the street when the driver of a black SUV struck him.

Police reported that the victim sustained traumatic head and body injuries. He received on-the-scene treatment from the Chicago Fire Department and was subsequently transported to Luther General Hospital, where he was declared deceased. Citations were issued to the female motorist, whose age was not immediately determined. She remained on the scene.

However, the collision is currently under investigation by CPD Major Accident detectives, and police did not immediately provide further information about the crash.
