Chicago, IL (May 27, 2024) – According to officers with the Chicago Police Department, a portion of I-57 in Chicago was closed on Sunday afternoon after a deadly crash involving a pedestrian.
According to Illinois State Police, the crash unfolded just after 2:00 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-57, near West 99th Street, near Washington Heights. Troopers say a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the area and was later pronounced dead on the scene. Due to the crash, northbound lanes of I-57 were closed while troopers conducted an investigation. Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed, but troopers say more details on the incident will be shared with the public once they become available.
