Hit-and-Run Accidents in Chicago

Hit-and-run accidents in Chicago have become a troubling issue, especially in densely populated areas like the South Side. These tragic events leave victims and families devastated, often with more questions than answers. When a driver flees the scene, it complicates everything—emergency response, accountability, and the pursuit of justice.

In cases like this, surviving family members may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim, even when the responsible driver has not yet been found. In some situations, compensation may still be available through uninsured motorist coverage or victim compensation programs.

Common reasons drivers flee accident scenes include:

  • Driving under the influence
  • Lack of a valid license or insurance
  • Fear of arrest or legal trouble
  • Panic or confusion
