Chicago, IL (June 25, 2025) – One person was killed in a crash involving a wrong-way driver on the Tri-State Tollway Wednesday morning, Illinois State Police said.

The crash occurred at about 1:54 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 294 at milepost 46.75 in Glenview. Police said a vehicle was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it hit a box truck.
The driver of the vehicle driving the wrong way was killed in the crash, police said. The driver and passenger in the second vehicle were transported to a hospital with injuries. The crash had led to the closure of all northbound lanes of I-294 between Dempster Street and Willow Road. All lanes reopened around 6:45 a.m. However, ISP is still investigating the deadly crash and has not released further details related to the incident.
