Chicago, IL – Deadly Vehicle Collision Occurs on Bishop Ford Fwy at 115th St

Chicago, IL (July 5, 2024) – All southbound lanes of the Bishop Ford Freeway were temporarily closed after a deadly crash on Chicago’s South Side early Friday morning, Illinois State Police (ISP) said.

The crash happened at about 5:50 a.m. on Interstate 94 at 115th Street. A GMC SUV hit the median barrier following the initial collision, causing a rollover and ejecting the driver, ISP said. The driver, whose age and gender were not immediately known, died. EMTs also assessed at least one other person at the scene, but it’s unclear if they were taken to the hospital. All southbound I-94 lanes were closed between 115th and 130th Streets until about 9:20 a.m. No further details were released as an investigation is ongoing, however.
