Bloomington, IL – Man Identified in Fatal Collision at Wylie Dr

Bloomington, IL (March 9, 2025) – The McLean County Coroner’s Office identified a 49-year-old Bloomington man who was killed on Saturday morning, March 8, in a two-car crash on the city’s west side.

Coroner Kathy Yoder said Scott W. Smith suffered multiple blunt injuries in a crash involving two sedans at the intersection of Wylie Drive and West Market Street.

First responders were called to the site at about 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, and Smith was pronounced dead about 45 minutes later at Carle BroMenn Medical Center. The other driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

So far, police have not issued any tickets for the crash, although the department’s public information officer said the investigation is continuing. However, no other details were released, and an investigation remains ongoing at this time.
